Silent Hour (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a mindfulness application designed around local-first, privacy-preserving practice. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is stored, and your choices. We do not operate a user account system and we do not sell personal data.
Summary
- No personal data collection through the app (no names, emails, or accounts)
- Device-local storage only for sessions, journals, goals, and preferences
- No third-party analytics or advertising
- You control your data — export or delete anytime in Settings
Information we do not collect
Silent Hour is built so that we, as developers, cannot access your practice data. We do not collect:
- Account credentials or sign-in information (there are no accounts)
- Precise location or GPS data
- Contacts, photos, microphone recordings, or camera data
- Payment or billing information within the app
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
- IP addresses or server-side logs tied to your practice
Information stored on your device
To provide mindfulness sessions, journaling, goals, and preferences, the app stores data locally using browser or app storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it (e.g., as a JSON file).
| Data type | Purpose | Stored where |
|---|---|---|
| Session history | Duration, phases, mode, intention, timestamps | Your device only |
| Journal entries | Reflections, mood, notes you write | Your device only |
| Goals & streaks | Practice targets and progress | Your device only |
| Preferences | Theme, language, soundscape volume, UI settings | Your device only |
| Install / visit flags | Onboarding or install prompt state | Your device only |
Contacting us
If you use the contact form on our Support page or email contact@silent-hour.com, we receive only the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message) so we can respond. Form submissions are processed by our hosting provider (Netlify) and used for support only.
Cookies and local storage
See our Cookie Policy for how we use local storage and caching. We do not use advertising cookies.
Audio and soundscapes
Ambient soundscapes are generated locally using the Web Audio API. We do not stream personal audio to external servers or record your environment.
Network use
After the initial load, Silent Hour is designed to work offline. The app does not transmit session or journal content to our servers. Your browser may request app files from our host and fonts from Google Fonts to deliver the experience — not to profile your practice.
Third parties
We do not share your practice data with third parties for marketing or analytics. App stores apply their own policies to downloads and updates; we do not receive your journal or session content through those channels.
Children’s privacy
Silent Hour is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
Your rights and choices
- Access & export: Settings → Data Management
- Deletion: Clear data from Settings or uninstall the app
Because data is stored only on your device, we cannot delete it remotely on your behalf.
Data retention
Data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to handle your request.
Security
Local-first design minimizes exposure: no central database of journals, no account passwords, and no practice telemetry. Secure your device and any exported backups.
International users
Our model aligns with GDPR and CCPA principles because we do not collect or process personal practice data on our servers through normal app use.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the date at the top will change. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
